Das Films Sues Director Wayne Wang

Das Films sued Wayne Wang and his production company today for breach of contract. The company claimsthat the director walked away from the film project A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers. The suit alleges that Wang (Joy Luck Club, Maid In Manhattan) in November of 2008 agreed to direct the film and then in March of this year sent an email to Das Films saying he would not direct the film. His backing out, the Santa Monica-based Das Films alleges, prevented them from from financing, producing, selling and distributing the film. The suit, filed in L.A.Superior Court,seeks damages in excess of $200,000 and legal fees.
