mother wouldn't give me money to buy reeds. Now I'm in a small
university without a decent music program, and I want to start playing
again. My old roommate is in the band (playing clarinet) and she never
practices or received lessons. She says the music is very easy. I
looked up what they played at the last concert, and it includes Harry
Potter Symphonic Suite, and Selections from The Nutcracker. Hmmm...
The only prerequisite is "previous band experience." The choir has no
prerequisites, yet we performed Mozart's Requiem Mass.
I have a very good knowledge of theory, play piano, sing classically
and can sight read quite well, but haven't played clarinet in 8 years.
How long should I wait before joining? Do you think I could join this
fall if I practice daily all summer?
